RULES

CLASSES

 

1. ALL RIDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ATTENDING RIDER'S MEETINGS.

 

2. NO SPECTATOR OR PIT RIDING PERMITTED.

 

3. WARM UP RIDING IS LIMITED TO THE START AREA ONLY AFTER AN OFFICIAL HAS GIVEN PERMISSION AND THE RIDER HAS REGISTERED FOR THE EVENT.

 

4. RIDERS MUST NOT EXCEED 1ST GEAR IDLE WHEN TRAVELING TO AND FROM THEIR PIT AREAS AND MUST ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET.

 

5.RIDERS MUST REGISTER FOR THE RACE BEFORE RIDING THEIR MACHINE ANYWHERE.

 

6. RIDERS WILL RECEIVE A NUMBER, COLORED STICKER, AND TRANSPONDER IF NEEDED. THE NUMBER MUST BE PLACED ON THE LOWER LEFT AND RIGHT CHIN SIDE OF THE HELMET FOR SCORING, THE COLORED STICKER SHOULD BE PLACED ON THE BACK OF THE HELMET, AND THE TRANSPONDER SHOULD BE PLACED UNDER THE VISOR OF THE HELMET.

 

7. ALL RIDERS MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE SCORING TRAILER.  IF YOU DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP YOU WILL NOT BE COUNTED FOR THAT LAP.

 

8 RIDERS MAY NOT BE SERVICED OR PITTED IN THE SCORING AREA.

 

9. RADIOS ARE PERMITTED BETWEEN PIT CREW MEMBERS AND RIDERS.

 

10. RIDER CONTACT: DELIBERATE RAMMING, BLOCKING, OR INTENTIONAL CONTACT WITH ANOTHER RIDER WILL BE CAUSE FOR DISQUALIFICATION.

11. RIDER/PIT CREW CONDUCT: UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT MAY RESULT IN PENALTY, INCLUDING DISQUALIFICATION.

 

12. TEAM TACTICS ARE NOT PERMITTED.  THIS INCLUDES BLOCKING, ALLOWING ANOTHER RIDER TO PASS IN ORDER TO AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF THE RACE, OR EXCHANGING MACHINES IN ORDER FOR ANOTHER RIDER TO CONTINUE THE RACE. RIDERS INVOLVED MAY BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RACE. 

 

13. RIDERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN

 

14.AMATEUR BIKE COMPETITORS MUST BE AT LEAST 14 YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT IN ORDER TO COMPETE ON A 250CC MACHINE OR LARGER.

 

 15. AMATEUR ATV COMPETITORS MUST BE AT LEAST

  15 YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT IN ORDER TO COMPETE ON A 400CC MACHINE OR LARGER.

 

16. AMATEUR ATV COMPETITORS MUST BE AT LEAST

 16 YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT IN ORDER TO COMPETE ON A 450CC MACHINE OR LARGER.

 

17. RIDERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY AND PIT CREW.  RIDERS AND/OR FAMILY AND PIT CREW WHO DIRECT FOUL AND ABUSIVE LANGUAGE TO AN OFFICIAL, PROMOTER, OR OTHER RIDERS OR SPECTATORS, ARE SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION OF THAT EVENT OR SERIES. ANY UNNECESSARY TROUBLE CAUSED BY THESE INDIVIDUALS PUTS THAT RIDER AT RISK FOR DISQUALIFICATION.

 

 18. THE PROMOTER MAY DISQUALIFY ANY RIDER, CREW MEMBER OR FAMILY MEMBER FROM A RACE FOR VIOLATION OF ANY RULE, CONDUCT, OR ANY ACTION DEEMED DETRIMENTAL TO THE RACE.  SUCH DISQUALIFICATION INCLUDES THE LOSS OF ANY RIGHTS WITH REGARD TO THE EVENT IN QUESTION AND MAY RESULT IN THE EXPULSION FROM THE RACE SITE AND SERIES ENTRY.

 

19. THE PROMOTER IS EMPOWERED TO SUSPEND ANY RIDER, CREW MEMBER OR FAMILY MEMBER FOR A PERIOD OF ANY AMOUNT OF TIME FOR VIOLATION OF ANY RULES OR OTHER ACTIONS DEEMED TO BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE SPORT.

 

20. ANY RIDER OR SPECTATOR ALTERING OR PLACING DANGEROUS OBJECTS ON THE COURSE, WHICH CAUSES INJURY TO RIDERS OR SPECTATORS OR ALTERS THE OUT COME OF THE RACE, WILL BE HELD CRIMINALLY AND FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSSES THAT MAY OCCUR.

 

21. ALL ATV'S YOUTH AND ADULT MUST HAVE A TETHER SWITCH FOR SAFETY PURPOSES.

 

 22a. RIDERS MUST REMAIN ON THE MARKED COURSE. THE MARKED COURSE IS WITHIN 25 FEET OF RACE ARROWS. HOWEVER, RIDERS MUST STAY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE FOLLOWING MARKERS: DOUBLE ARROWS POSTED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRAIL, RIBBONS, SIGNS, STAKES, HAY BALES, BARRELS, MOTOCROSS TRACK, GRASS TRACK, ETC.  ANY DELIBERATE BYPASS OF ANY OF THE PREVIOUSLY LISTED MARKERS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. 

22b.  IF A RIDER GETS OFF COURSE AND MAKES A "FAST LAP" THAT LAP WILL NOT BE COUNTED.  IT IS THE RIDER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO STAY ON THE MARKED COURSE. FOLLOWING ANOTHER RIDER IS NOT AN EXCUSE.

 

 23. RIDERS ENCOUNTERING A BOTTLENECK MAY GO MORE THAN 25 FEET OFF THE COURSE TO GET AROUND THE BOTTLENECK ONLY. HOWEVER, THE RIDER MUST RE-ENTER THE COURSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AND UPON APPROACHING THIS SECTION THE NEXT LAP, RIDER MUST RIDE THE ORIGINAL ARROWED SECTION IF THE TRACK IS CLEAR.

 

 24. RIDERS MAY NOT CUT TO THE INSIDE OF A CORNER MARKER POLE. IF A CORNER MARKER IS CUT THE PENALTY IS 45 SECONDS.          

 

 25. IF A RIDER LEAVES THE COURSE FOR ANY REASON THEY MUST RE-ENTER WHERE THEY LEFT THE COURSE

 

26. CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE RIDER’S BEST FINISHES IN A MINIMUM NUMBER OF 8 EVENTS. A RIDER MUST ENTER A MINIMUM OF 8 EVENTS IN THE SAME CLASS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR SERIES AWARDS.

 

27. TIES: TIES FOR THE CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE BROKEN BY THE MOST FIRST PLACE FINISHES, THEN BY THE BEST FINISH IN THE FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON IF NECESSARY. TIES FOR OTHER CLASS POSITIONS WILL BE BROKEN BY THE BEST FINISH IN THE FINAL RACE OF THE SEASON.

 

28. TOP TEN QUALIFYING RIDERS IN EACH CLASS WILL RECEIVE AN AWARD AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

 

 29. MEDICAL INSURANCE: MSHS DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR COMPETITORS, AND WE URGE YOU NOT TO COMPETE WITHOUT IT. MEDICAL INSURANCE IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPETITOR.

 

30. TOWING: RACERS WHOSE DISABLED VEHICLES ARE TOWED BACK TO THE PIT AREA BY STAFF, FOR ANY REASON, ARE ELIGIBLE TO RETURN TO THE TRACK ONLY IF THEY HAVE NOT MADE A FULL LAP YET.  IF YOU ARE TOWED IN AFTER A FULL LAP HAS BEEN MADE, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO RETURN TO THE TRACK.

31. RIDING GEAR: ALL RIDERS MUST HAVE A HELMET, GOGGLES, GLOVES, PANTS, LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT, AND BOOTS THAT GO OVER THE ANKLE. CHEST PROTECTORS ARE NOT REQUIRED BUT ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

 

32. AWARDS/PLAQUES: PLAQUES WILL BE GIVEN TO ADULT AND YOUTH RIDERS BASED ON 1 FOR EVERY 3 RIDERS IN THEIR CLASS. PLAQUES WILL BE GIVEN TO THE MINI BIKE & ATV RIDERS BASED ON 1 FOR EVERY 2 RIDERS IN THEIR CLASS.

33. ALL RACE STARTS ARE DEAD ENGINE (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MINI ATV AND MINI DIRT BIKE CLASSES). RIDERS MUST NOT HAVE THEIR BIKE/ATV STARTED BEFORE THE GREEN FLAG IS THROWN. IN ADDITION, RIDERS MUST TRY TO START THEIR ENGINES AT LEAST 2 TIMES WITHOUT ASSISTANCE BEFORE PIT CREWS ARE ALLOWED TO ASSIST THEM.  ASSISTING THE RIDER BEFORE HE/SHE ATTEMPTS AT LEAST 2 TIMES WILL RESULT IN A 30 SECOND PENALTY.

 

 

34. RACE FINISH: EACH RIDER HAS 45 MINUTES FROM THE TIME THE OVERALL LEADER RECEIVES THE CHECKERED FLAG TO COMPLETE THEIR FINAL LAP. AFTER 45 MINUTES, THE RACE WILL END AND THE RIDERS WILL BE ASKED TO EXIT THE TRACK.

 

 

35. The machine a rider leaves the Start Line with is the official machine of the rider for that event, and may not be switched during the event.

 

 

36. FOR ALL CLASSES, AGE IS DETERMINED BY THE RIDER'S AGE ON JANUARY 1. HOWEVER, A RIDER MAY ADVANCE TO A HIGHER AGE DIVISION IF HE/SHE CHOOSES TO DO SO.  IF THE RIDER ADVANCES INTO THE HIGHER AGE DIVISION, HE/SHE MAY NOT RETURN TO THE YOUNGER AGE DIVISION.

37. DNF/DNS

A DNF WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY RIDER WHO MAKES IT OFF OF THE STARTING LINE, BUT DOES NOT MAKE A FULL LAP.

A DNS WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY RIDER WHO DOES NOT MAKE IT TO THE STARTING LINE OR DOES NOT MAKE IT OFF OF THE STARTING LINE. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE RIDER MAY REQUEST A FULL REFUND.

 

38. PROTESTS: ANY INDIVIDUAL WISHING TO PROTEST ANOTHER RIDER MUST FOLLOW MSHS RULES AND MAY DO SO AT THE REGISTRATION TRAILER..  IN
